Associate Attorney

Austen Vernon’s practice is focused on commercial litigation, employment law, personal injury, class actions, mass torts, and medical malpractice, as well as litigation and transactional work in real estate.

Austen recently joined The Baez Legal Group as of counsel. He has also practiced with the firm of Vernon & Ginsburg, LLP, in the areas of commercial litigation and real estate. Austen has been a member of various trial teams in state court, including the Matter of Regina Metro. Co., LLC v. New York State DHCR at the New York Court of Appeals. Austen has also worked on commercial leasing matters and count’s some of New York City’s top restaurants and galleries as his clients. He has defended commercial and residential tenants against racial and disability discrimination.

Austen is a 2012 graduated of Duke University’s. He spent the next 4 years to cofounding and growing his startup, SquadUP, a white label event ticketing platform, before continuing his legal education at Fordham University, where he obtained his law degree. While in law school and as an undergraduate at Duke, Austen interned at the Bronx Legal Services where he developed a passion for helping working class and poor tenants navigate housing issues in New York City courts.

When he’s not working, Austen is an avid basketball fan and point guard, once upon a time playing AAU for Mount Vernon and for the travel club team at Duke. Austen is also an active board member for several charities including the Team G: Gardner Marks Foundation, that he helped start in order to support the Pediatric, Adolescent, and Young Adult cancer community.
